Humphrey Onyemesili's Petition: UNIZIK SUG President Cico Appeals Ruling on Preliminary Objection

The respondent to Humphrey Onyemesili's petition against the 2013/2014 Students' Union Government, SUG, Presidential election of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, UNIZIK, who is equally the university's SUG President Comrade Ibe Cico, last week, appealed the SUG High Court Ruling on the preliminary objection challenging the original jurisdiction of the high court to entertain the case.

The SUG high court earlier ruled that the court has the original jurisdiction over the petition.

Due to the appeal filed at the appellate court by the respondents, the hearing on the subtansive suite could not commence Monday as earlier scheduled.

Judges of the appeal court include the Dean of the law faculty who is equally the chairman of the appellate court, The Head Department of Political Science, Dean of Students Affairs and The institution's Guidance and Counsellor.

As at the time of filing this report, no date have been fixed for hearing on the appeal.
