Jonathan appoints new heads for SURE-P, NTA, NAN, others

President Goodluck Jonathan on
Thursday appointed his former spokesperson, Ima Niboro, as the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

NAN is the Nigerian government’s official news agency.

The appointment was confirmed by Mr. Jonathan’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, in a statement.

In the statement, Mr. Abati also stated that the president appointed heads of some other government agencies.

One of such is the appointment of Martin Luther Agwai, a retired Army General, as the new Chairman for the Subsidy Re-investment Programme, SURE-P, a position formerly held by
Christopher Kolade, who resigned last year. 

Mr. Agwai was the former Deputy Chairman of the agency, a position to now be held by Tanwa Olusi.

The President also appointed former aviation minister and current Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, Fidelia Njeze, as his Special Adviser on the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, NEPAD.

He also appointed Suleiman Ajadi, a former senator, as his special adviser on National Assembly to fill the vacancy that was created after
he relieved Joy Emordi of her position.

Mr. Jonathan also appointed Sola Omole as the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and Ladan Salihu as Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN.

The statement said the appointments were “in furtherance of efforts to continually strengthen this administration on all fronts.”

It said all the appointments are with immediate effect.
